There was a stall that sells coke. When a man put down a dollar the clerk asked "Do you want the diet coke or regular coke." The man said "What's the cost?" The clerk said "The diet is $1 and the regular is $0.90" and the man took the diet. Then another man came and put a dollar on the stall and the clerk gave him a diet coke. Why didn't the clerk ask him which one he wanted?

Here is couple of more goofy possibilities:
The other man was the same guy?
The other guy had already bought a diet coke earlier or he had an empty diet coke can in his hand?
The other guy was wearing a t-shirt that read "Diet Coke for Life"?
