And that is exactly why it isn't worth it to me...

I made the mistake of giving an aunt a decent deal on a computer. Most of it was spare part I had. Since then, every computer she has owned I get for repairs and thats usually every few months. She is the only person I have ever ghosted a harddrive on just because I knew I would be reinstalling the os before it needed updated...

    for sure....

newegg does has some good warehouse workers and as far as shipping i credit that to UPS....

i personally like to be able to ASK an emplyee his.her opinion.... and you cant do that at newegg.... (and if youi look the reviews are trash 50% the time)

but i don't like big corps. such as best buy where they have NO clue what they are talking about =-P

here at SRC (santa rosa computers) EVERY who is on payroll can tell you what EDO ECC (and lets say...) NTFS is...

try asking that to the *tech's* at best buy =-/

Others UPS too, by fast shipping I meant the item leaving the warehouse is fast, the courier's specified shipping time would naturally be the same.

There will ALWAYS be those who talk trash, even when they really should not be...then again Newegg wins because most novice users do not want to risk running into problems by trying smaller, less repuatable companies. It is like people looking for a Starbucks when they want coffee, do they have the best coffee? Far from it but everyone knows the name and what to expect price, service and quality wise...

Best Buy has some intelligent, young fellas that would know that and much more but is it really required for a Best Buy sales associate to know details on what ECC, NTFS and other acronyms/terminalogies instead of the specs/features of the product they have on their shelves? They are not there to teach or impress buyers about their technical knowledge, heck most customers do not know much about PCs so they could care less what an ECC is. For those buyers that would matter what ECC/NTFS, etc. is, they'd already know what it is...no?

I pity those who go to those stores to out-wit the sales by asking technical questions, etc...sad really (but I am not saying you do it).

mm coffee, FWIW, there was a big article in the newspaper about who had the best cup of coffee.. A guy went around to every popular coffee joint and nearly all the gas stations that have coffee..

He didn't put $tarbucks very high on the list and their opinion was that the best cup was from a circle K /76 station on 41st avenue, about 2 blocks away from $tarbucks LOL..

I got the chance to try the coffee at the 76 station when some doofus jacked up my sisters car to help her change a flat n chopped her fuel line with the jack, then quickly bailed after they noticed the fuel dripping from the underside of her car!! pretty good cup of coffee for less than a dollar!

Oh man, don't even get me started on that Killer NIC bs!
I got nothing to say to those who pay that much for a NIC (I know why they name it so, it would KILL you to pay that much only to find out the so called performance gain could also be obtained by other simple and free system tweaking...most people have incorrect or low MTU/RWIN settings to begin with, or their high-speed connection is not even fully utilitized, they got spyware/trojan, etc. The point being, each person needs to find the real bottleneck that they need to fix, instead of going after insignificant, unnecessary or overkill 'improvements'.

So, Star, you are saying out of 17 Geeks in the Squad, only 2 knew their stuff? That is weak...
