fix hl2 resolution

so i was playing hl2:ep1 and i decided to change the video settings. aparently i set the resolution to something my monitor cant display, and now i cant see the game. i deleted the local content and reinstalled, but i still cant see it. when i launch the game, my monitor says out of range, and all the sounds so i know its just the resolution. any way you kids know how to resolve my resolution ridiculousness?

There should be a .cfg file in the steam folder that you can edit to change the resolution or refresh rate to match what your monitor supports. also you can possibly delete these .cfg files in the steam folder, in order to force defaults.

Also, if you use steam, there's a way to use steam to configure your games screen mode/resolution etc.. Just make sure that you have tried these modes in "windows" via the graphics control panel, prior to forcing them in steam, that way you don't force them to something that doesn't work with your monitor. go to steam right click on hl2 go to launch options type -h 800 -w 600

will set it to 800X600 set what res you would like shut down hl2 take that out of launch options

i used -autoconfig and that worked. thanks guys
