I'm thinking it might have something to do with binary or some other base system, but I'm not that strong of a mathematician.

When is 1 the correct answer to this problem: 2 + 11?

ANSWER (There were some good guesses, but I got ya on this one): When you are adding time, 11+2 = 1 (unless you are military time). OR, when you are adding piles, adding 2 piles to 11 piles, you get 1 pile.
