Thread: Virtual Memory warning

    Question Virtual Memory warning

I started using a PrimeFilm 3650 slide copier and it uses a lot of virtual memory, even though I have 1.25 GB RAM in my computer. (Windows XP Pro, fully updated, with only AVG running in the background) The copies are at the highest quality settings and result in a ~3Mb file when completed, but the first slide will use up to 485,000K during the processing and leave ~150,000K residual. Subsequent copies will leave another 100,000-120,000K additional residue and eventually I'll get the "Virtual Memory is Low" warning and shut down. I've reset my paging file settings to "System managed size" and it shows 15677MB Space available, 2Mb Minimum allowed, 1870 MB Recommended, and 1247 Currently allocated before running any slides today. I've run CCleaner and Ad-Aware to clean things up, but it didn't change the situation.

Can someone explain why so much virtual memory is being used and not being returned?

    Don

How much RAM do you have? What is hard drive size? You may have the virtual memory size set wrong but need to know those sizes first.

To go on what Judy said:

You have 1.25GB RAM in your computer, but what is the HDD total space? You said you have ~15.5GB Free, but whats the total size?

And as for your question, the chances are, that's just what the program uses that is causing so many issues.

(Just as an example, I have 2GB RAM on my PC and it's currently set for a minimum size of 2046MB (2GB) and a max of 4092MB).

As I originally stated, I have 1.25 GB RAM. The hard drive is 60 GB.

first thing that comes to mind is to see the manufacturers site to look for driver and firmware updates

if I'm looking at the same product, the current drivers are dated November 2007
unlikely that the one you have came with that in the box
