    Hi,
I appreciate that you all give your time and help for free and am very grateful for all the help I've had in the past (few years ago with freezing PC). I would have preferred though if you had said that you couldn't (or wouldn't ) help with my current problem. Thanks anyway!

Nobody here said they WOULDN'T help you. I made it plain in my first post to you that this was not my area of expertise. However, ~TL, cauzomb and Mathster have all tried to offer assistance and given some advice and suggestions so for you to say that we wouldn't offer assistance is just not correct.

Sorry, no offence intended. As I said I am grateful for the help you give and I have a great deal of respect for all of you. I just felt as though my thread was left hanging a bit? Just feeling a bit down as I had to totally reformat and reinstal XP and lost a lot of files in the process (some where backed up, but not all). Sorry again!!

~TL gave you a response to your comment in #12 in his reply #13 on August 22. You didn't respond to him until your response this morning, the 29th. Generally if the original poster fails respond to a reply or suggestion we have no way of knowing if that person is monitoring the replies or if the problem has been solved so we do not continue replying. We cannot respond to something unless we know the current standing of the issue and in this case, with no response from you for seven days we had to assume the matter was possibly resolved and further comment could have been damaging to others monitoring this thread with somewhat the same difficulties.

I had to totally reformat and reinstal XP and lost a lot of files in the process (some where backed up, but not all).
I am sorry you felt you had to reformat but if you had replied to ~TL's comment then maybe there could have been, I cannot say this for sure because as stated, I am not a "hardware person", but if you had replied back they maybe could have found you a way to avoid this.
