    You didn't stop those Services...
    23 - Service: Google Update Service (gupdate1c9eba557ebff6) (gupdate1c9eba557ebff6) - Google Inc. - C:\Program Files\Google\Update\GoogleUpdate.exe
    O23 - Service: Google Software Updater (gusvc) - Google - C:\Program Files\Google\Common\Google Updater\GoogleUpdaterService.exe
    O23 - Service: Yahoo! Updater (YahooAUService) - Yahoo! Inc. - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\SoftwareUpdate\YahooAUService.exe

Those are not needed, they just use excessive resources. All they all are update checkers. Absolutely not needed.

Judy, I will check again, but I did stop them and set them to manual.
    Thanks, Terry

I checked and the only one that showed running was the Yahoo even though I'm sure I stopped it last night and it is still set to manual. The others are not running and they are set to manual. I even applied then clicked ok.

Go back in there and change that Yahoo one to disabled and then reboot. Those types of things are so darned invasive and they don't need to be running all the time. Updates for things like Yahoo can easily be checked on and done manually. You have to really be careful with things like Yahoo and a few others, they try to "think" for you rather than allow the user to make choices of their own. Do you use Yahoo a lot?

  5. #45
No I don't ever use it, but I think my neice was using it for facebook. I will do this later and send you a new log.

Judy, I am having issues with the internet and I am on the highest bandwidth, but around 2pm-3pm it bogs down and Comcast says that is a high usage time and people are using up the bandwidth. This company I am working for are telling me I have to get this fixed or they have to release me. Is changing to another ISP going to correct that, do you think?

Honestly I cannot say. Comcast is probably correct when they say that is a high usage time...kids coming home from school, people beginning to come home from work, businesses doing their final email and whatever of the day.
You might call other providers in your area, explain the situation and see what they can offer. Otherwise I can't say for sure.

    Thank you for that.

Here is the new log after removing that Yahoo updater and rebooting.

Looks pretty good. Are things running better? Add this program, SpywareBlaster
It's free, offers superb protection as sort of a backup for your av and firewall. It doesn't run in the background, doesn't scan for and clean spyware--it prevents it from being installed in the first place. SpywareBlaster prevents the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, dialers, browser hijackers, and other potentially unwanted programs. It can also block spyware/tracking cookies in IE, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape, and many other browsers, and restrict the actions of spyware/ad/tracking sites.

Download, install, update, click Enable All protection and close the program. Check for updates manually every few weeks. If there are any, download, install, enable all and that's it.

Just a couple more questions. Will that interfere with anything that this new company requires to download if it uses ActiveX, and do I need to remove any of the other programs you had me install?
