Hmmmm....well now at least the citizens of our nations capital have the legal right to kill each other with handguns...not do it on the sly
Or atleast be safe in their home since our nations capital has the highest violent crime rate in the country.

Sorry, not true anymore. The latest rankings published October 2006...St. Louis won the prize as the most unsafe city in the U.S.

They need to strike any language that references any aspect of melitia from that document before it gets rejected since militia has a whole different take on weapons law when the state/if the state declares martial law.
Since the people themselves are the militia, limiting the ownership is unconstitutional.
The reason why the second amendment was created was to keep the government(fed, state and local) from disarming the people then becoming a tyranical beast. Some people are still confused and believe it was for the people to own hunting or personal protection firearms. ...its to keep us free from the government.
TITLE 10 > Subtitle A > PART I > CHAPTER 13 > § 311 Prev | Next
§ 311. Militia: composition and classes
(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.
You are absolutely correct knight!
I am not especially FOR guns, never owned a gun, fired a gun and have only held one or two in my life.
My main complaint is that the ownership of guns is not better checked...especially when you have some guy arrested for killing his mother or something and you find out he has all ready been convicted of pulling an armed robbery or shooting his neighbor or something. Convicted violent felons should not be allowed to own a gun of any kind. Heck, you all ready have given up a lot of rights if you are convicted of a felony, why should you still be allowed to own a gun.
..amazing that it took this long for that ruling to come out. Supreme court has always held the 1st to what it means and even pushed it a bit past. Glad to see they applied the 2nd with the same vigor. This might actually add some weight to the push last year against the '86 MG ban. Weren't people submitting Form4's (manufacture?) in the hopes they would go through?
Now if only we could get some pro-gun presidential candidates.... Anyone know more about the stunt Jiulani was pulling on licensed dealers outside of the state of NY?

They cant even knowingly be in the same house as a firearm.
By law, a felon cannot vote, own a gun, or be in a location where he can access a firearm.
Your right, they shouldn't be allowed to own a gun. and they aren't.
Odds are, that the supreme court will not hear this case. there is no way they can vote.
support the circuit court and uphold the constitution and you give everyone the answer to the "militia" question.
overturn the circuit court means denying the constitution and allowing the government to become the tyrant our forefathers feared.
The basic argument comes down to does a criminal really care if he breaks another law?
Currently, for me to purchase a firearm, I have fill out a 2 page form. this information is used for an instant background check with three possible results. Approved, Hold, Denied. Approval means I can leave with the firearm. hold means "they" ATF, want to research it more and have a time frame to come back with an answer. Denied means no firearm today. you can file for a request of why.
I dont mind having my background check done each and every time I purchase a firearm. I have been on hold a few times, but never denied.
If you haven't shot, go to your local gun range. most rent guns and will be more than happy to teach you the proper handling and use for the firearm. You might find that you really enjoy it.
