    Firefox redirects homepage to instantpharm.com

    I change it but it changes it back. I've ran ad aware, NOD, spyboy, spyware blaster, superantispyware but havent fixed the problem

    Ran hijackthis and it said my system denied access to the host file
    as shown on this log "O1 - Hosts: ::1 localhost"
    Said to delete it and save as "host." but the thing is I can't edit the host file to save or even save it as "hosts." as it tells me to save to my documents instead. Should I delete it in safe mode?

    I am on Vista 32/64.

    (Don't know if you saw it or not but if you did I apologize for that spam poster that sneaked in ahead of me, I have deleted his post and banned the poster.)

    Don't worry about the Host file.
    You need to follow the instructions given on our Read Me sticky and copy/paste the logs back here. Then we can better advise.

    Before you do all the requested scans please do the following:
    Disable Spybot's TeaTimer

    * Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode
    * If it is not already set to do this, go to the Mode menu
    select
    Advanced Mode
    * On the left hand side, click on Tools
    * Then click on the Resident icon in the list
    * Uncheck
    Resident TeaTimer
    and OK any prompts.
    * Restart your computer

    Also please TURN OFF AdAware also, you can hopefully do this via the program itself, if not then go into Services and Disable it, reboot.
    The same advice goes for SUPERAntiSpyware, please TURN it off.
    Unless you have the paid versions of AdAware and SUPERAntispyware then the real time scanning of those two programs do absolutely nothing except waste valuable resources.

    Both of those programs can actually interfere with fixes attempted.
    I will say however, you do not appear to be using either an anti-virus program or a firewall, making it doubly easy for you to get infected. Can you tell me why you aren't running either?

    Also, for heavens sake turn off, better yet, UNINSTALL that Tune Up Defrag program. There is no need whatsoever for a program like this to be even on the system, much less running all the time.

    I checked my security preferences and it says "windows firewall is actively protecting your computer"

    May be, but where is your anti-virus program? None shows in your log. A firewall and some anti-spy programs are absolutely not enough.

    Ok, though it doesn't show in the log that it is running. I also see a 2nd defrag service, O&O Defrag, running in addition to that Tune Up Defrag. There is no reason that either of these programs should be running automatically at all. Turn them off and leave them off.
    Please complete the scans as requested and copy/paste the logs back here. Hopefully we will get a better picture of what may be going on.

    Ok I have done what you said for SAS
    I am now going to reboot and do the list from the sticky you sent me.

    Are you going to be on for awhile? I would hate for you to go in the middle of all this hahah

    I will be in and out. The scans are going to take you awhile, a couple hours at least. Be sure to reboot after each one. Have no fear, I won't abandon you. I will read all the logs today and post back with fixes and recommendations, I promise.
