That setting really doesn't make a difference, as it's only for telling the notifier what browser to open the inbox in. this sounds like a browser issue. Do you get the same thing in Firefox?

I did try it and it's all web-based, so it shouldn't be polling that in the first place...

at first when i tried firefox it was fine!
but after a while it started bringing error pages up when i tried to upload some music files.
i have managed to enter the fishing comp through firefox though.
so i too think it is definately a browser problem, now all the viruses are gone!

another thing to mention is my dr speedtouch diagnostics,
when i run a test it gets as far as the internet picture then fails
saying that theres a problem connecting to the internet, even when im already on it?

    Sure...am searching through GMail help and here are things I have found;
Access to Gmail from countries and territories outside the United States may be limited because of proxy issues.

Some security and anti-virus software and browser toolbars may cause the Send button to malfunction. If this happens, log out of Gmail and disable or reconfigure the software or toolbar. Then clear your browser's cache and log back in to Gmail.
Here's how to clear your cache in Internet Explorer 6.x:
    1. Log out of your Gmail account. Close all other open browser windows.
    2. Click the Tools menu at the top of your browser, and select Internet Options.
    3. Click the General tab at the top of the dialogue box.
    4. Click Delete Files under Temporary Internet files.
    5. Select Delete all offline content by checking the box.
    6. Click OK.
    In Internet Explorer 7:
    1. Log out of your Gmail account and close all other open browser windows.
    2. Click Tools > Internet Options.
    3. Select the General tab.
    4. Click Delete under Browsing History.
    5. Under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files.
    6. Click Delete Cookies.
    7. Click OK.
Here's how to clear your cache in Firefox:
    1. Log out of your Gmail account and close all other open browser windows.
    2. Click the Tools menu at the top of your browser and select Clear Private Data...
    3. Select the Cookies and Cache checkboxes.
    4. Click Clear Private Data Now.
In some cases, it may be necessary to clear your cache more than once to completely fix the problem.

Well I am sorry, but can go no farther with this one. Maybe somebody else can help. It is obvious to me that the problem lies with the browser, possible security settings or possible settings that do not allow you to view this. It may be the trojans have damaged your system in which case the answer is a reformat.
