Ah... Plone/Zope go together and are also newly installed. Didn't realize they took up so much RAM.
YES, I am on the way to go get some more RAM!!! Like you have been suggesting.

Be absolutely certain that you get the correct RAM. Why didn't you say that these were also new programs? If we had known then this info could have been found immediately, as it was this was a last ditch look that led me to this information.
When you experience a sudden slow down of a computer absolutely the VERY FIRST thing to look at is Newly Installed Programs...I don't necessarily mean that minute just installed, I mean within the previous month as some things take time to drag down a computer. IF there ARE newly installed programs then the first step to take is Uninstall these new programs and see if there is a difference...obviously in this case the speed would have returned to the computer and you would have saved a week of searching for trojans and viruses that absolutely were not there.
Whenever you want to install a new program the very first thing you must look at are the minimum system requirements...and minimum does not mean best conditions it means minimum which generally does not mean you will achieve the best results.
