    PLEASE!!! help with x1950pro agp

I recently upgraded my video card from a 9600XT AGP to a X1950PRO(CLUB3D)256mb, AGP. I have a funny feeling that my old card ran better than this new card is running. 3DMARK06 gave me 3519 points. That seems a little low for such a card. Can anybody help me out? For example, when i play World of Warcraft in 1280x1024, with everything set to low, i get graphic stutter when moving my character around(15-25fps). My 9600XT ran this game smooth with everything on middle to high. I have ATI TRAY TOOLS installed, and as far as i know, everything is set correctly. Also, i am using the latest ATI driver(7.1). Here are my computer specs-ASUS P4C800-e Deluxe mainboard--Intel P4 2,6ghz--2gb ram--CLUB3D x1950pro 256mb agp--430watt TARGAN psu--WinXP Pro/sp2.---Could this problem be the result of an out-dated mainboard bios? When my old video card died, i reset the cmos, and that of course reset my bios to the original bios. Could this be my problem? Is my psu strong enough? I have no clue. Please help me out. Thanks.

I would try upgrading the BIOS as a first resort, the computer should not have any problems with the video card. It may also be the card, I'm not familiar with the CLUB3D brand. Maybe try their site for drivers for the video card. Some card manufacturers have their own special form of drivers.

uninstall all vid card related software and reboot

    install the new ATI drivers

    see what happens then...

also... why did you spend 250+$ on an outdated card (AGP) ?

that money would be better spent on a new mobo/cpu

agreed, try some of the cleaning tools for ati and or nvidia, "if you upgraded from nvidia, to rid your sytem of old drivers, usually the process goes like this, install your motherboard chipset drivers with agpgart normal mode, install the 3d card drivers "omega" drivers without CCC, install D9.0c redistributable, re install 3dcard drivers, test and tune, maybe you have to re-install dx after that? sometimes it gets pretty darn weird to enable DX 3D accelleration.

Also, ensure that fast writes are OFF in the bios.

starshooter, agp systems are not entirely dead, 250 bucks is less than buying a processor, motherboard, memory, psu and whatever else would be needed to make the move to pci-e worth every penny.

I believe the x1950pro agp is the fastest AGP card you can buy, so it's hardly "outdated" although the argument could be made that AGP is being phased out.. Use DriverCleaner to remove old drivers and then re-install. Also, as cauzomb says, you can do without ATI's CCC.

Another strange thing that I got with my ati x850pro is "better" performance at higher resolution and default settings using the native resolution of my monitor and a slightly higher refresh, it says it supports 70hz but allowed 75hz, using all the default graphics settings in windows display properties, advanced, 3d allows for "less" work by the system than custom settings, so even if you choose lower settings in the 3d tab, it won't necesarrily perform better... infact, in most cases using custom settings causes a big hit in performance because the computer has to reference these extra settings while doing other stuff instead of using the default's and letting the game do what it wants, regardless of lower quality lower resolution etc. My x850pro performs better at MAX than it does at MIN for UT and even aquamark works better with the default 3d settings compared to custom lower 3d settings.

    Test and Tune!

I personally run a PCI-E version of the x1950pro at 1680x1050 with all settings maxed out in WoW. Except for V-sync, Full Screen Glow effect and Smooth Shaders.

You should have no troubles running WoW @ 1280x1024 at 4x or 8x AGP with your card, so most likely it is a configuration problem or a software issue. Unless of course the card is faulty.
