We got to comparing computers in the office today. As an engineer, we get the top of the line at the time, but only upgrade every year or so. The standard, cheap, office computers are now outclassing my computer. and are just about outclassing my laptop. depending on what upgrades they get.

That's the truth...that's why I built mine....I don't think I'll ever buy a retail DESKTOP again....

The only retail desktops I have had are at work. Even my first computer was a custom build whitebox

I've talked to so many people in thea last few weeks who have had to return their computers (usually Dell) because the OS is corrupter or hardware is bad out of the box....yeah...no longer do I trust anyone....

We use dells, other than IT issues, they have been decent machines.

but like I said, we get the high end computers in my department

Yeah, that makes a difference. Just about everyone that I know that has a Dell is residential and a lot of them get the cheapo computers.....something that I'd NEVER go for...

Even on a whitebox or custom built computer, the hardware quality makes a difference.

get good hardware, have a good computer.

Exactly....That's why I get high quality hardware...even if it isn't name brand...it will have a lifetime warranty with it...
