    Canon MP530 Networking with D-Link

    Howdy everyone,

    I have the following:

1 Desktop PC running Windows XP
1 Laptop PC running Windows XP
    1 Mac G5 running OS X 4.???

Have networked them with the D-Link DI 740UP. NO issues there, worked first time and all is running well.

I am having an issue with the print server and my MP530 MF printer.

Although MF printers have networking issues some times, most "reviews" on the MP530 say it CAN be networked (although you lose scanning and PC faxing), but I cannot seem to get it to work. I have searched and searched with no success. I can't find anyone that has advised HOW to get it networked - they just say it can be done.

The Status on the D-Link simply says "Printer: Not Ready". Drivers are installed on all machines, and I know I can print from all machines if the printer is hooked up directly to each machine.

    Any advice appreciated.

your probly better off hooking it up to one machine and configuring it as a netework share to the other machines. It is possible to have it as a stand alone device on the network but this, like you mentioned stops scanning and faxing ability, you may want to check out any and all info about setting up Upnp network aware printers for domains, also check that the firmware of your router can handle Upnp devices and all that goodens. For me, the best bet is to setup your home network on it's own subnet, different than the WAN if you are getting internet through your dlink* Then share the printer from the PC that you will be scanning and faxing from.

*reason to use a different subnet on your LAN than the WAN, is to prevent WAN solicitations from being able to sniff your printer share.
