OEM_Guy's link to Vic Ferri's tips and tricks was exactly what I successfully used to finally be able to delete an .avi file that seemed to be causing my cpu usage through explorer.exe to go up to 99%. A year later, and this suggestion was still extremely helpful and EASY!!!
