Unhappy Windows Media Player 11 Library GONE!

Hi! I have had WMP11 installed for some time now (since the betas) I now have the final for XP (11.0.5721.5145) and was very happy with it until today when out of nowhere, my whole library just disappeared. I was doing nothing significant, nothing intensive, I just opened it and it wasn't there. So I rolled back to 10 and the library came back. So I then downloaded and installed 11 and it isn't there. When I click the 'click here to add files to the library now' and add some folders and hit 'ok' it just does nothing. Same happens when I add via F3 and the menu. How can I keep WMP 11 AND my library (AT THE SAME TIME ). Could it be registry? Thanks, Silver

Though I am not using version 11, from what you described, it sounded like a bug in the program rather than a registry issue.

Did you check the Windows Update or Windows FAQs site to see if it was already reported as an issue?

    WMP11 Library disappeared

I also have the same problem with WMP11 and yes i did check the Windows Update or Windows FAQs with no solution at hand. I tried calling microsoft for help but they told me since I bought my computer used and my software serial numbers did not match up therefore I was not eligable for customerservice and acctually must buy a licence for the software currently installed. yet I have been using this computer for over two years now and dont even remember the name of the person I got the computer. This is acctually the third time this has happened and have ha some success in restoring the library by rolling back, refreshing the program and or deleating the program and then reinstalling it, however within a few days or weeks the problem returns..........I have had this problem since early december. The biggest thig I have noticed is that the default folder that is monitered in the add to library box is gone and when I try to add other folders they just dont seem to stick in the box.

Again, it sounds like a bug but since I never personally used WMP's library, I couldn't comment on it. The problem might be inthe registry, but probably not. I think, it has more to do with the system it is installed on or the program (executable) itself, since version 10 works fine, it is more than likely an issue with the version 11 of the program.
I am surprised others have not mentioned this on any of the other forums out there....

Is there any way to make a backup of the playlist, export it to a file perhaps? Then I would uninstall version 10, blow out the program folder/files, cleanup the registry as well then install the latest version and import/copy over the playlist (if at all an option or feasible to do so).

    Wmp 11 library

The windows media player library gone issue is on many many threads on the web and microsoft is very silent of the issue. I my self have tried every possible solution with limited or no success. I have been using real player lately and I have also activated my guest account on my computer and window media play is working fine for that user however I ll bet that at some point in the near future that tha library will disappear as well.
