Hard to believe, not calling you a liar or anything but even the basic stock model of those trucks won't get better than 18/19mpg which is what I get with my truck on the freeway but still averages like 15/16mpg in the city.
So, I am having hard-time believing a 5yr old 3/4 ton 4x4 truck would get that...![]()
I know by getting an enhanced air filtration system I can add another 2/3mpg but haven't seriously looked into it yet. I think it costs like $250-$300 but a worthy investment since I heard it -supposedly- increases car's power another 5 to 10 horsepowers. Getting a hard tonneau cover (snugtop $800) couple of years back, did improve the truck's aerodynamics which increased the mpg a little bit but more importantly it rides much smoother at higher speeds...

My dad had (2), a '95 and '99 Dodge Cummins 3/4 ton diesels and now a Ford F-350 King Ranch with 6.0l Powerstroke. The first Dodge got 22mpg with 3500lbs of oak firewood in the back on the interstate from PA to FL, mind you the truck's empty dry weight was 7800lbs too. His second Cummins we sup'd up too over 500hp and 750ft lb torque and the fuel economy went from 20mpg highway to 23mpg highway. His present Ford Powerstroke gets 17 in town and 19-21mpg highway - loaded or unloaded.
