Looking again through your log to see what items are running and why. Give me a few minutes.

Honestly Dom, can find lots of references to various wireless files running but honest to god don't know enough about wireless to advise whether you need these or not. Hopefully cauz or somebody can tell you better than I can.

But since this suddenly happened at home and it ran well before...geeze! Was the computer left plugged in and running while you were away at your family dinner? Just wondering if an electrical problem could have happened.

I know the other scans showed nothing but am really wondering if maybe we better try one more clean up...Combofix. If there IS something there this should find it. Want to try it? This would or should rule out something nasty.

Download Combofix
You will get a prompt asking if you want to run or save the file. Choose SAVE & save it to the desk top. DO NOT RUN it YET

You must take some preventative measures so that there are no conflicts with other programs when running ComboFix. At this point you should do the following:

* Close all open Windows including this one.
* Close or disable all running Antivirus, Antispyware, and Firewall programs as they may interfere with the proper running of ComboFix.

Once these two steps have been completed, double-click on the ComboFix icon found on your desktop. Please note, that once you start ComboFix you should not click anywhere on the ComboFix window as it can cause the program to stall. In fact, when ComboFix is running, do not touch your computer at all and just take a break as it may take a while for it to complete.


Windows may issue a prompt because ComboFix does not have a digital signature. This is perfectly normal and safe and you can click on the Run button to continue.


ComboFix is now preparing to run and when it has finished you will see the Disclaimer screen you should press the number 1 key and then press the enter key to continue.


ComboFix will create a System Restore point so that if any problems occur while using the program you can restore back to your previous configuration. When ComboFix has finished creating the restore point, it will then backup your Windows Registry.


Once the Windows Registry has finished being backed up, ComboFix will disconnect your computer from the Internet. Therefore, do not be surprised or concerned if you receive any warnings stating that you are no longer on the Internet as your connection will be completely restored at a later stage in the program.

ComboFix will now start scanning your computer for known infections. This procedure can take some time, so please be patient.


While the program is scanning your computer, it will change your clock format, so do not be concerned when you see this happen. When ComboFix is finished it will restore your clock settings to what they were previously. You will also see the text in the ComboFix window being updated as it goes through the various stages of its scan.

When ComboFix has finished running, you will see a screen stating that it is preparing the log report


This can take a while, so please be patient. If you see your Windows desktop disappear, do not worry. This is normal and ComboFix will restore your desktop before it is finished. Eventually you will see a new screen that states the program is almost finished and telling you the programs log file, or report, will be located at C:\ComboFix.txt.


When ComboFix has finished, it will automatically close the program and change your clock back to its original format. It will then display the log file automatically
You should now post this log here when all is complete.


This usually doesn't take hours or anything like that so don't be concerned you will be stuck waiting over night or anything like that...probably less time than the average MBA-M scan.

No, it shouldn't be used unless somebody tells you to use it. In other words it isn't an everyday tool that should be used on your own.

If you have an old copy on there you need to remove it...have you run it before?

If you don't want to run that, it's ok. When you get your disk from Dell come back here and somebody will help walk you through your reformat and reinstall. Now anything you have saved on there, documents, music, pictures and the like that you want to keep you need to back up to a cd or flash drive. Take note of all the programs you have installed, you will need to reinstall all of those also. Go to the Dell website and you should be able to log in there and get the full specs of the computer as it was when it was shipped to you. This should tell you drivers, etc.
You might do a Belarc scan and print that out also. This will tell you what all is on there now so you will know all you need once the reformat/reinstall is complete.
Can't think of anything else, maybe cauz can think of something else you will need to do.
Once you get the disk just come back and we will get you started. Should take a couple hours to reformat and reload. Then add drivers and do the updates needed. After that you can put your programs back on.

ok, post the log when finished. don't do anything on the computer until it is finished. turn off the av and firewall before you start.
