    Software Inspector - Secunia

Not quite sure if this is correct thread regarding title. However posting message concerning my problem.
I am using IE7 and when I try to run this program it does not respond. I therefore decided to use Mozilla Firefox and it ran without a problem. Is there a specific reason why it does not respond using IE7.

The site can be found here : http://secunia.com/software inspector

    Any Advice / Help appreciated

Which version are you using? It seems the online version should support/work with IE7, if that is what you were using then it might be logical to send secunia's support group an e-mail to ask about the issue. It could be as simple as tweaking a browser setting. I would seek the company's help even if this is a free/trial version you were using...

It works fine on my IE 7; did you allow the Secunia site to install the Java applet that allows the service to work?

    Hi ALL

Perhaps too early but no response from Secunia to date

According to F1 he has no problems using IE 7 so decided to have another go this morning paying particular attention to where it is mentioned
''Status / Processing Java Applet Loading''
There is no reaction whereas when Mozilla Firefox is used there is immediate reaction which says loaded successfully. T/after when I click on start it functions.
This suggests that within IE 7 the applet is not being loading. Any ideas as to why and how to correct this problem.

I do have IE7 on one of my home computers but I am at work. The problem sounds like one of the security related settings or filtering feature that is new in IE7.

I believe F1 could tell you how he has his configured. If no I will check on this when I get home and as time permits....

It's really simple as I don't deviate much from the standard settings in IE7. But here's how I work it on my rig:

When you get to this page, holddown the 'CTRL' key (This makes the next page open up in a new tab and overrides the popup blocker for me) and click on 'START' while keeping the 'CTRL' key depressed

As this page starts to load (in a new tab), you should see a popup screen asking you to install the Secunia java applet. (Do not let up on the 'CTRL' key until the popup shows) Click 'Install' or 'Run' and the java applet should load. The 'START' button on this page should be colored now which indicates a successful install and will allow the Secunia Inspector to work.

Your results can look similar to this:

    Hi Guys

Yr help very much appreciated. Everything appears to be now working using IE. The impression I get is that for some unknown reason my Java Applet was not functioning correctly but that problem has now been resolved.
This thread can now be considered as closed except further complications reoccur.
