OS is windows xp 32bit sp2
I have windows updates turned off via services but there is some other "update" being attempted at shutdown.. I keep geting a windows update log file created on my system drive. Update log shows wupdate at shutdown "failed", this is not the problem though.. Reason for my concern is that the system drive is a solid state disk. According to the SSD tweaking guides, the constant file creation on the system drive can degrade the SSD's write performance over time.. I need to turn off the program that is attempting to perform the update at shutdown, to maybe conserve baseline resources and speed up the shutdown process but mainly to stop the constant re-creation of log file on the ssd, or move the log file to another non ssd partition, in order to preserve the SSD's write performance in the long run. I'm having trouble finding the program that is attempting to install updates at shutdown.. Any suggestions are appreciated.
