Adobe Air update message

Hi,

A message to update Adobe Air keeps appearing on someones computer. This person is not a programmer, doesn't have any need for this software, and doesn't know where it came from. The actual software is dated last November, well after she bought the computer. Does it have any value to a non-programmer, and can this update message be stopped from appearing each time.
