Is the computer still running slow? Does your anti-virus program now show as running?

The window's shield shows the anti-virus as not working and the computer is not as slow as it was.

I just wasn't sure if there was anything else I could do to make sure it's running as it should be.

From what I have found this is a well known Windows bug of the Security Center repository not resetting properly.

    1. Temporarily disable the WMI service (Windows Management Instrumentation) in: Start ->Run -> type: services.msc and in there find and stop WMI
    2. Next delete the C:\windows\system32\wbem\repository folder, wait for it to recreate (it can take a bit of time.) Sometimes 10 to 20 minutes.
    3. Restart the WMI service & restart the computer

The repository folder would not delete (I did stop the WMI). A pop up mesage says the file index.btr is in use.

Are you certain you tried the correct one?
Go to the "wbem" folder (C:\Windows\system32\wbem)
Locate the "Repository" folder and delete it (DELETE ONLY THE REPOSITORY FOLDER!!)
Meaning you have to OPEN wbem and delete that ONE Respository Folder

I'm sure. The repository folder has a folder in it call 'FS' and a file called $winmgmt.cfg

The FS folder has 2 index folders and a few other files in it. It won't delete due to the index files being in use.

Try turning off the Security Center all together. Reboot, turn it back on and see what happens.

    EDIT:
If that doesn't work then do this as recommended by Microsoft:
Note You should only disable these alerts if you are sure that your computer is protected by the full version of an up-to-date antivirus program. In addition, once you disable alerts, even if your program receives an update that makes it fully detected within Security Center, you will not receive alerts unless you clear this check box.

To specify that you're using an antivirus program that Windows does not find

1.Click Start and then click Control Panel.

    2.Double-click Security Center.

3.In the Security Center, under Virus Protection, click Recommendations. (The Recommendations button is not available when your Virus Protection setting is marked ON.)

4.In the Recommendations dialog box, select the I have antivirus software that I'll monitor myself check box, and then click OK.

When you use this procedure, the Security Center displays your Virus Protection setting as Unknown, and does not send you alerts.
