    spy or virus

i am getting green lines in the screen, that progressivly get worse till the screen goes completly white...then,,,as i close the screen [lap top]
i noticed the screen comes back..like a loose wire
then..i left the pc on with the top open. the screen was white
i could hear the sound it makes ,when you sign on
screen still white..then the screen goes black..supposed to after ? minutes
but..after the screen goes black, i hit enter and i am back on again
screen is clear and good..whats up? virus or memory playing out?
pk right now..looking at screen...green blinking spot right in the middleand
behind the window, like the screen behind this one is corupted
but this window is ok..makes me think virus..computer is old
need a new one, dont have the bucks..what you think??

Hi I'd check your internal connections.
Could be a loose Video card.

Turn the computer off and disconnect it from the power
Take off the side of the case and touch the bare metal chassis to discharge static.
Remove Video cards from their slots

    Reseat Video card.

Is this a CRT [cathode ray tube] monitor of Flat screen?

Could be a videocard going bad, dirty connection, or the wire's between the video card and screen could be breaking from opening and closing alot. Doesn't sound like a software issue. What model laptop?

    Red face video card

ok..video card....is this something that i can install myself?
or does this require a tech...and a clean room inviroment
just kidding..what am i looking at here?
also have another sympton, don't know if its related or not
    its my curser.
the curser..is there supposed to be 2 of them on the screen?
i have the usual "line" that is right in front of the letters that i type
but..there is another seperate curser..it is where ever i leave it
right now its in the upper r h corner, but i need the other to move this one
if i move it using the enter button..is this making any sence at all??
if i wish to move my curse up, 4 lines. to fix something.
i have to put the other curser, up there. then click on it..then..move it out the way..confusing...
but...is there supposed to be 2 cursers? how do i make it go away?

Usually, in a word document or other text editor, there is a static or blinking "current position" cursur. There is also the MOUSE curser. When you mouse over a text box or while the mouse pointer is in the text box, the pointer changes into a curser. You can pretty much ignore the mouse curser, till you need to click where you want to edit/enter text etc.. As for the graphics card/ depends on what make/model laptop. If you post the make/model of your laptop, I can look into what parts or service might be available..

If you get the error message again, post which program is not responding... Other than looking into the program causing the error, looking up the error report etc.. If the computer got knocked off a table and landed on a hard floor while it was running, there's a chance that the hard drive crashed.

    Download HD TUNE from http://www.hdtune.com/
load it up, then run an error scan. If the error scan shows "bad sectors" "red blocks", it's likely that the drive crashed when the laptop hit the floor. If you do have "bad sectors" you will want to back up all your important data and replace the hard drive as soon as possible.
