Well I made an error here, there will be one more fix needed with HJT and one more with combofix. Have to get exact wording for that one and am checking with another helper to be sure I get it right. Will get back with you as soon as I hear from him.

Ok, thanks for being patient, only one more fix needed, just had to do some checking to be certain.
    Run HJT again and place a check mark next to this entry;
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: zvnmsi.dll

Then click the Fix Checked button.
    Exit HJT.
    Reboot.
Run one more HJT scan and post the log.

    Looks good to me.
    You also should install SpywareBlaster
A key program most of us feel for the protection against spyware, adware, browser hijackers, tracking cookies and dialers. Also has a super Restricted Sites section that really does it's job. It is a FREE program AND does NOT run in the background. Just download, install, update, enable and close the program. Works with both IE and Firefox. Just remember to manually update and enable new updates when it has them.

You can set that new Restore point and figure all is well.

Wow. What a journey! She came...She saw...She it's I can't tell you thank you enough! I know...I'll send you an ecard! Just kidding...I know about those.

    A few questions...
    1) I still have the problem with Windows Firewall. When I try to access it in the control panel I get "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall Settings." I found this...http://windowsxp.mvps.org/sharedaccess.htm Is this a good idea to fix this with?

    2) Now that I am clean, is there a way to copy restore points onto a flash drive so they can be put back on the system after the malware is removed?

    3) Is there a root kit install file hiding somewhere on my machine waiting for me to click the offending program so it can reinstall itself?

    4) Should I uninstall ESET Online Scanner?

    5) Should I leave Spybot Teatimer disabled?

Thank you again Judy. You Rock!!

    A few questions...

That is up to you really. If you do you would be using Resolution #1.
or you can install one of the FREE Firewalls referenced HERE

    2) Now that I am clean, is there a way to copy restore points onto a flash drive so they can be put back on the system after the malware is removed?
As I stated earlier in my post #8...
System Restore actually operates only on a very few system files and settings. System Restore does not backup your data. If you delete or damage a file, System Restore will not recover it. System Restore does not keep old copies of your files or settings. If you're looking for an "old version" of a file or program that you used to have on your machine, System Restore will not have it. System Restore will not restore your system. So if you have a system crash it WILL NOT correct it. System restore is intended for recovery from recent changes to your system.
There is absolutely no reason at all to keep these points. Plus the ones you "think" you want may not even be there. Simply, the answer is no.

    3) Is there a root kit install file hiding somewhere on my machine waiting for me to click the offending program so it can reinstall itself?
No, we ran the gmer program and FOUND the rootkit, ran UnHackme and combofix and removed all.

    4) Should I uninstall ESET Online Scanner?
This is up to you. You can keep it if you like and run the program from time to time

    5) Should I leave Spybot Teatimer disabled?
    Absolutely, 100%

You are very welcome by the way, happy I could help.
    Judy
