Thread: I got a bug...

  1. #31
When I fired up this morning I got a popup box from Spybot asking for a decision on...
    Category.....Command Processor
    Change.......Value Deleted
    Entry..........Auto Run
    Old Data......nothing in this field

Also there is no "info" button available.

I haven't done anything with this. Should I allow or deny?

Deny it. This probably has to do with one of the removals done either by ESET Scanner or MBA-M. Then TURN OFF that TeaTimer of Spybot and leave it off, don't turn it on again.
This part of the program is, as you can see, more trouble than it is worth. It sees a change, it doesn't know that it is a GOOD change, just a change and therefore wants to add it back in.

  3. #33
I was finally able to open Spybot, so we must be getting somewhere. I turned off the teatimer as requested.

Open Device Manager and on the VIEW Tab, select the Show hidden devices option.
Go down to non plug and play drivers and see if there is one called TDSSserv and disable it.

Then try downloading and running Combofix again.

  5. #35
TDSSserv is not present in the list.

Go to Start, Control Panel, Adminstrative Tools, Event Viewer and look for listings in either System or Applications which correspond to those prep.com messages. I still find nothing about that except the SAT prep pages.

I see a lot of errors stating "The Device, \Device\Harddisk0\D, has a bad block". There are 75 of these errors posted 34 times during one minute the evening of the 1st and 34 times during one minute on the evening of the 2nd. These show up in "System".

In "Application", I see the prep.com error fourteen times. Six times early afternoon on the 1st, three times late afternoon on the first and five times just after midnight last night.

When I Google "Combofix prep.com error" I find this...

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...3050945AAMoTP6

Although the answers are not what we are looking for, it does show that someone else has experienced the same error message.

    Run HJT again. Place a check mark next to the following entries;
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E07E3FFA-22C8-4D67-9148-A06E663D7FA6} - (no file)
O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'c:\program files\bonjour\mdnsnsp.dll' missing
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddcAtRki - C:\WINDOWS\
    Click the Fix Checked button.
    Exit HJT.
    Reboot.
See if you still get that error.

  9. #39
    Same error...prep.com.
I got this message after HJT did the cleanup...
"HighjackThis cannot repair 010 Winsock LSP enteries. You should use LSP fix for that, which is available from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm .
If the 010 item belongs to Webhancer, New.net or CommonName, Spybot can automatically remove it.

I ran another HJT scan after reboot and after trying ComboFix.
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E07E3FFA-22C8-4D67-9148-A06E663D7FA6} - (no file)
O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'c:\program files\bonjour\mdnsnsp.dll' missing
    were both still present.
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddcAtRki - C:\WINDOWS\ was removed.

Here it is if you're interested...

Just spit balling here....but could we somehow go into the registry and rename Combofix so the malware couldn't recognized it and not block it?
