Thanks again for the help.
The computer does seem to be responding favorably. Its performance is noticeably faster!
rtvscan.exe and defwatch.exe were at 00% in the Processes of Task Manager.
The new HJT log is attached.
As a result of this process and your suggestions above, I have come across a potential problem with Norton...
The version of Norton that I am running now was from my/my wife's online school when we a started in 2002. It is:
- Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition
- Full Version w/ Program Number 7.61.935
- Virus Definition File of: 10/12/1999 rev. 13
After looking at the site you posted about Norton, I saw that it applies to versions of 8.0 and above which got me to thinking if this version is obsolete.
Up to last week, as you saw, I was running two AV programs. I deleted the other in favor of Norton but now I see the above list of characteristics and have to ask if I am running an out-dated, unsupported version of Norton. I'll do some checking online to find this answer but if you can tell as well, that would be great.
As it is now, I believe that I have it set for manual updates and real-time protection.
Thanks again and let me know if you more needs to be done from the HJT log.
