    Stuck in Win SP 2

I just came out of hibernation and have been working on getting my computer to update (until now I have been too busy to fix something that is truely not broken). I am stuck with sp2 because everytime I update to 3 I receive messages that state I am missing msncorefiles, msn9components and signup.mar. Any input would be greatly appreciated to correct this problem.
    Thanks
    Pete

Can you post some more information about your computer; make, model, CPU brand, any additional hardware upgrades and applications, this will help to narrow down the issue. In the mean time, I'll have a look at the support.microsoft.com website and search for anything regarding updating to sp3 and the files that you have mentioned, to see if there's any suggestions there.

    Thank you for your reply:

    I am running a Compaq SR1308OM AMD
    Using Automatic Updates
I click the yellow shield and "software update installation wizard: opens up
    "inspecting your current configuration"

    Details
    performing inventory--this phase progressing completely
backing up files--this is where it starts to fault

Soon after this sarts I receive the following:
"setup cannot copt the file obepopc.dll
    ensure that location...
    copy files from
    c:\programfiles\msn\msncorefiles\oobe
then it prompts me to retry or cancel if I retry same message, if I cancel it progresses to other things i am missing about 1/2 page of stuff missing all related to msn

Did you try updating while logged in as administrator?

Here's a bunch of suggestions from microsoft regarding sp3, nothing specific about file copy errors durring setup; but maybe one of their methods to install sp3 will work.

    Thanks for the help.
I tried all of their suggestions without any luck.
I guess I'll search for MSN install files

    Thanks again

You're welcome, wish I knew what it was, or could be of more help with this. If you figure it out, could you post your solution?
