Hello NY and welcome to IANAG,

Have you already gone through the steps outlined in PP's sticky on this section of the forum?

Here is the analyzed version of ouyr HJT Log.

Personal note: The last service stated as missing is probably not really missing, HJT has a bug that incorrectly reports some of the valid, present services as missing.
Your servicepack version is 1, is there a reason not to upgrade to 2? If so, make sure you have all critical security patches installed!!

Please wait for either PP or Jholland to get back to you.

    ~TL

jeepers thats a LOT of items on startup, things probably feel like they're moving really slow. I would start by removing any startup entries that I don't absolutely need.

Sorry NYBadshah1, don't know how I missed your log. First thing I notice is you are running two anti-virus programs...AVG Free and McAfee. This is and Absolute No-No and also right there is enough to slow the computer, PLUS lessen the protection offered by either program. You MUST uninstall one of them. Since McAfee is the paid program then I would suggest UNINSTALLING AVG Free. Notice I stress Uninstall, don't just delete. Go to the Control Panel, Add/Remove and find AVG and highlight it and then click the Remove Button. Now, IF the McAfee had expired and this is why you have installed the AVG Free, then Uninstall the McAfee. Just because an anti-virus program has expired doesn't mean it is not still on the machine and operating. The expiration just means it can no longer be updated.
Do that FIRST. THEN go through all the steps on PP's Sticky
Once you have completed those steps then reboot, run a NEW HJT scan and post back here with that new log.

blank is correct, you have a huge number of items running automatically when you start the computer, which means these programs are running all the time. A good number of these are unnecessary. I will go through the list in this log and note those you should disable from starting. That too, in addition to the removal of the extra anti-virus program, will definitely speed the computer. But please do all the steps in PP's sticky and then come back with the new log. There ARE some nasty items found in the log but many of them can be removed using the tools found in PP's Sticky. Don't worry about that analyzed version of your log now, some items noted can be ignored, we will take care of all that once we get to see the new log.

    Hello fubar2578 and welcome!
Yes, that is correct. If the poster follows the instructions in the link given then the HJT program should be moved to it's own file. If you note, the poster has not been back for six days either. So we don't know what else has happened. Hopefully he will come back and we can help.
