If you have a laptop like mine you don't care about your desktop anymore.. If you have a problem with your laptop #1 celerons SUCK and #2 7200RPM hard drive is the only way to go.
Dell Inspiron E1705:
Core duo 1.8Ghz
60Gb 7200RPM hard drive
8x NEC DVD burner
2Gb RAM
17" LCD
7.5lbs

the E1505 can be the same specs only 15" and under 2 lbs less weight... also there's the 1405 which is even lighter yet same specs.

Desktop: Dell Dimension 5150
3Ghz P4 (can put core 2 in)
15k RPM SCSI Cheetah HD
320Gb Seagate
1.5Gb RAM
20.1" LCD

$500 for dimesion + monitor = why build?

I'm waiting a few months for the new chipset and 800Mhz FSB chips to come out then I buy a new laptop and upgrade to core 2... Don't have a need to upgrade the desktop until core 2's are dirt cheap or I find somebody selling a sweet core duo real cheap.

that laptop can handle vista...
and for the dimension... i wouldn't put vista on a P4
and whay use a cheetah?
thats pointless......
