Just noticed this comment here...If you usually DO have 5 instances of svchost running then why, in both of your logs are there only two running? You HAVE stopped something from running somehow, whether msconfig or something. In order to get proper scans everything must be running when you do them...especially the items that you feel are causing problems.

HJT only shows two, because they are both system processes.
I have one as a Local Service, and one as a Network service too, that don't show up in HJT.

Anyhow, now after removing some WildTangent crap (ugh) it's seemed to stop doing it. The required DLL was missing because I deleted in with S&D a while back. It must of been trying to call it, and couldn't find it. I also found that problem on one of the "Ask-Leo!" articles, and it said missing DLLs could cause this.

Well I am so glad you found your answer. It was evident you felt we knew nothing here. Since you knew all about svchosts anyway.

Of course you obviously know very little about the necessity of keeping your OS up to date...yours is WAY out of date. Since you know all about svchosts then you should also know that Windows XP is all the way up to XP Service Pack 2 now, has been for ages. Service packs increase the safety of your system.

Internet Explorer newest Version is: 6.00.2900.2180! So you are way behind there too! Of course you also run Firefox, which does help with security...latest version 1.5.06.

You are not running a firewall but obviously security is not your first priority since have spent most of your time learning all you need to know about svchosts.

Good luck running your unpatched system. You will probably need it.

I'm glad you got it figured out. But please, the next time you ask for help, be a little more gracious of the help you are getting. You aren't paying anything for this help and most of the people take time away from their own lives and families to help you.
