Having issues with my browser and some type of malware

I just came back to my parents place for the weekend and their computer has some type of malware that seems to hijack their browser and redirects it to some site. The malware prompts a fake windows security alert that says I am infected with a "Trojan.Zlob.G". I tried to dl HJT, but it wouldn't even let me connect to any site that would help fix the issue. I was able to install HJT using my user profile, which by the way works fine. And I scanned their computer and it came back with this log:

I know there are other threads addressing a similar issue, but I do want to do anything wrong to a computer that isn't mine. And I apologize in advanced if I overlooked a thread or broke a rule in doing so. I just want to make sure that I don't mess their computer up anymore and would really appreciate if some one could give me a step by step to properly fix their computer without wiping the entire hard drive.

Hi, yes you are doing the right thing by starting your own thread.
See if you can do this:
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBA-M) to your Desktop.

• DoubleClick mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install MBA-M.
• Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When MBA-M finishes, Notepad will open with the log. Please save it where you can find it easily. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt.

One thing I see too is a HUGE number of unnecessary auto starting programs so they run all the time taking up a lot of resources. Let's see if we can get this program and maybe a couple others run and then we can work on that so maybe the computer will run faster and also have some higher security too.

Thanks for the help Judy. And I agree about all the auto-running programs. I try to warn them about what they dl and install on the computer, but for some reason my mother never listens. She easy has like five different add on programs she has put on the computer, so that IE barely has room to display a webpage. Anyway I ran Malwarebytes as you suggested on my profile, which is working fine. Do you suggest that I run it on my parents profile as well or will that even make a difference?

According to the original HJT log the computer really has lots of infections on it.

I would also like you to run SDFix
Download SDFix from the link above and save it to your desktop.
Now, double-click on the SDFix icon that should now be residing on your desktop. If a Open File - Security Warning box opens, click on the Run button.

A window will now open showing SDFix being extracted into the C:\SDFix folder. Once the installation program has finished extracting SDFix, it will open a Notepad with further instructions.

Next, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode by doing the following:

1. Restart your computer

2. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.

3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear

4. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

5. When you are at the logon prompt, log in as the same user that you had performed the previous steps as.

When your computer has started in safe mode, and you see the desktop, close all open Windows.

Click on the Start button, click on the Run menu option, and type the following into the Open: field:

C:\SDFix\RunThis.bat

# Then press the OK button.

# The SDFix window will open containing some brief info and a disclaimer on the use of the tool. Please press the Y key on your keyboard and then press enter.

SDFix will now start scanning your computer for known infections.
This process can take a while, so you may want to do something else and periodically check back on the status of SDFix. As the scanning process continues you will continue to see new messages on the screen.

When the scanning process has finished you will see a new screen stating that you need to restart your computer in order to continue.

At this point you should press any key on your computer's keyboard in order to restart the computer.

After your computer reboots SDFix will automatically start and perform a last check.

You will now be presented with a screen stating that SDFix has finished.

At this point you should press any key on your computer's keyboard in order to continue to your desktop.

When you are back at your Windows desktop, the SDFix log will automatically be opened in notepad.
Please Save that log for posting here.

Reboot the computer.
Update MBA-M and run one more Full Scan with it. Allow it to Remove anything found.
Save the log.
Reboot the computer and run a new full system scan with HJT. Save the log.
Post back here with all requested logs.

Also I would like to see an Uninstall list done with HJT. To do that do the following:
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.

Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file, the desktop is the easiest. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad

Just to keep you informed I went ahead and ran MWB in safe mode and it found an infection, which it said it quarantined and deleted. I ran windows again in normal mode and did another scan only to find the infection back. Here is my most current log:

Lordy! Quite an uninstall list there. Some questionable items to say the least.
Let's try combofix first though.

Download ComboFix
Click on the Save button and then when it asks you where to save it, make sure you save it directly to your Windows Desktop.
Once the download is complete you will see the Combofix on the desktop.

• Close all open Windows including this one.
• Close or disable all running Antivirus, Antispyware, and Firewall programs as they may interfere with the proper running of ComboFix.
  Doubleclick the combofix icon on the desktop to run the program.
  

• Windows will issue a prompt asking whether you wish to run the program, click Run

You will then see a Disclaimer screen asking you to agree to the disclaimer. Press the number 1 key to accept the disclaimer.

Now just sit back and allow the program to run

Please note, that once you start ComboFix you should not click anywhere on the ComboFix window as it can cause the program to stall. In fact, when ComboFix is running, do not touch your computer at all and just take a break as it may take a while for it to complete.

When ComboFix has finished running, you will see a screen stating that it is preparing the log report.
This can take a while, so please be patient. If you see your Windows desktop disappear, do not worry. This is normal and ComboFix will restore your desktop before it is finished. Eventually you will see a new screen that states the program is almost finished and telling you the programs log file, or report, will be located at C:\ComboFix.txt.

When all is complete then please post back here with that log.
