We need full information about YOUR computer. Don't remove ANYTHING yet. Give us RAM, HD size, what all do you have on your computer? What is the OS?
Also give us the info on your mother's computer so that we can compare the two.

How do I get all that info? My mums laptop is like brand new..

On either computer, right click on My Computer. Choose Properties. The first page there will show you the OS and amount of RAM installed. Double Click My computer. Right Click C drive and choose properties. That should show how big the hard drive is and how much space is left. This will give us a place to start.
Most of the time a brand new computer will be faster than and older computer.
