I've used windows vista off and on for about a year now, most recently RC1. in any case, I don't think Vista will be any better than XP at launch. That is to say we will likely see SP1 within a few months and SP2 after that. What needs to be pointed out here is that there are several different levels of Vista and most computers made within the last 2 yrs can run vista, just not aero glass which is the eye candy. It will be a similar situation to win2k vs. winXP. They are both pretty similar under the hood, but WinXP has more decoration. This is kind of the same situation people will be presented with when they move to Vista. I've actually run it on my old Dell I9200 laptop with a 1.6Ghz Pentium M and Mobile Radeon9700, so there are a lot of systems that can actually run Vista, just not to it's full gui capabilities.

In the end though, I nuked RC1 in favor of WinXP Pro's more robust driver support. The Vista drivers just aren't all there yet and they won't be for several months after it is released to the public.

What's wrong with discussing it? People learn by reading and if we are dumbing the forum down to the least common denominator, we have fallen quite a long ways from the old days were the bleeding edge was why people came here. Guess things change.
