Alright, this is where this is going.
I've currently go a 160GB WD IDE HDD that I use in my computer. I just got my 250GB WD SATA Drive. I normally use DriveImageXML to make a backup and transfer it to the new drive and it works flawlessly, well, this time it doesn't want to cooperate. I can get the backup to work, and I can get the transfer to go. Man is that SATA drive faster. But, my computer will boot, but it will not go past the BLUE Windows XP splash (you know the one that says "Windows is starting...", right before it brings up the user logon).
I have formatted 3 times and retransferred 3 times. I don't know if I am going to have to just load a new copy of windows on there....which I really don't want to do, as this install is still perfect, and I finally have it all tweaked to run really efficient.
So, my question is, is there something extra on a SATA drive that doesn't get loaded onto an IDE drive to make it work? Or am I just stuck with reloading windows? And if that's the case, does anybody know how well the windows File and Settings transfer application works?
TIA
Michael
EDIT:: Scratch the file and settings transfer wizard....it won't transfer programs....
