    Tell him to remove TrendMicro from his os and try to get a refund. He then
    could purchase the full version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

    The problem with that suggestion is that MBAM does not target true viruses or exploit
    code. He would still need a fully installed AV solution and can use MBAM to supplement
    that solution.

    Uhm.. While I appreciate the confidence, MBAM isn't a virus scanner. We
    compliment virus scanners quiet nicely, but do not replace them. He would
    be ill advised to remove Trend. I really can't blame Trend for letting this
    one slip thru. This sort of thing isn't strickly viral.
