    Ping Dustin

I had a friend with a Dell 1501 laptop running XP having problems with
    AntiVirus2009.
I believe he fell for the trap and dl'd the AntiVirus2009 program to cure
    his AntiVirus2009 infection.
He was running an up-to-date Trend Micro PC-illan Security Pro program
    (purchased) at the time.
I advised him to dl,install, update and run MBM and SAS, but he couldn't get
that done.(wouldn't connect to the necessary websites)
It also seemed as if his Trend-Micro got negated.
He finally got to dl and install SAS, but it would not run.
I finally got him to delete his TIF and temp files and reboot and then his
    Trend worked somewhat.
He ran his Trend and things started getting a little better.
He dl'd, installed, updated MBM and ran it. It took over 4 hrs but it did
most of the job the first time.
    Great program!!!
    After that, SAS would run,
With the combo of those two progams, his Trend Micro started running at full
    speed.
More work needs to be done, but overall his system is back up to speed.
    MBM is a great program.
I just wanted to say thanks.

Tell him to remove TrendMicro from his os and try to get a refund. He then
could purchase the full version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

The problem with that suggestion is that MBAM does not target true viruses or exploit
code. He would still need a fully installed AV solution and can use MBAM to supplement
    that solution.

Uhm.. While I appreciate the confidence, MBAM isn't a virus scanner. We
compliment virus scanners quiet nicely, but do not replace them. He would
be ill advised to remove Trend. I really can't blame Trend for letting this
one slip thru. This sort of thing isn't strickly viral.

Why go through all that hassle when he could have wiped the HDD and
reinstalled? That's the only way to be certain the virus is removed.
    completely.

    "the virus" ?

There wasn't any indication of a "virus" in the post your replied to.
