Need Help w/Reinstall after virus attack

    Hello
If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

    Some background info.

I am running windows XP. My google searchs were being redirected. My Nortons didn't help. So I downloaded a couple of the recommended programs to try to solve this problem (HiJack This, Malware, Spybot). The first two didn't help. The third program picked up a couple problems, but it also found a virus.

After "removing" the virus using the program, things went from bad to worse. The computer would lock up whenever a key on the keyboard was touched.

I was able to save important files from this computer so I fiqured I might as well just reinstall windows and start over.

I can boot from the Windows XP installation disk. The blue screen comes up and it asks to go to recovery or install. I select install and then you get the standard speech that you have to agree to if you want to proceed.

Here in lies my latest problem. To proceed you have to use the f8 key to keep going. My f8 key does not work at this point. I can still use the page up and page down keys and the esc key to get out.

The know there isn't a problem with the f8 key itself. The f8 key is still working when I boot into safe mode.

If anyone has any suggestions on how I can reinstall windows while I still have some hair left, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks

You may have to enable "lagacy keyboard support" in the systems bios, or check your keyboard for an F-lock key, ensure that it is turned on. BTW, what kind/brand of PC is this?
