After the latest updates of Hostman using MVPS Host and hpHost the few
bittorrent sites my ISP haven't blocked are now blocked by one of those two.
Anyone know why?

No, but why don't you rename the HOSTS file while you're getting your
pirated programs?

BitTorrent isn't just for pirated programs man. I've happily downloaded
various linux packages, WoW updates (on client PCS, I am not a gamer)...
etc.
The technology is often abused, but it's a really nice protocol.

Then edit the the hosts file with notepad to remove the entries you don't
want blocked. Also, you should only use one hosts file, the one from MVPS
or the HPHosts but not both so you don't get double entries. I use only
MVPS.

Hostman detects and removes duplicates.

HostsMan also supports an exclusion list so you don't have to remove blocked
entries each time your hosts file is updated.

OK, I don't use that app since Win98 because if you run under a limited user
account you don't need to use Hostman to lock the Hosts file.

Are your referring to 'overwrite' vs 'merge with current Hosts'?
I am never comfortable with the concept of merge. What gets removed and
what stays - the existing blocked item or the 'new' version.

It has nothing to do with either of those features. On the menu bar,
select Hosts->Exclusion List to prevent specified domain names from
being added to the HOSTS file upon import.

If you've merged the two HOSTS Files, there is no way in knowing which one is
blocking what.
