search doesn't search!

If I try to use search, I get " unexpected error. search could not be completed."
Windows xp media center edition
HP Pavilion dv8000
I have no idea how to look for the error and fix it.
I reeeely am not a geek!
Ideas?

We need lots more info than this...what are you searching for and where?
Are you searching online? If so, using what search engine and what browser? Are you searching the computer? If so what for and where?
Give us the exact wording of what it is you are searching for also.

Thanks for the reply. I was searching my hardrive for pic files and search function would not work. I have since found downloader.zlob.aty and some oyther stuff. I gave up trying to clean up and wiped & reformatted. Now everthing seems ok.

to be certain your computer remains secure from "invaders".

If you get something again like this Trojan.Zlob or other nasty items don't jump to reformat, these things almost always CAN be removed without reformatting by starting with the steps here
