    Folder won't hold view

    Hi.

    I have Windows XP home.

Folders do not keep the viewing options we'd like. They keep resetting to
"Detailed" and keep resetting the size of the window to 3/4 the page
rectangular. So say for instance, we have one folder on our desktop that has
5 files in it. When it comes up I'd like for it to view "Icons" and to be a
long rectangular box at the bottom of my monitor screen. It used to do this,
but now it views as "Detailed" and a bigger window in the middle of my
monitor. I can reset it and it will keep that setting (mostly) until we
reboot (which every night we turn off the computer).

A while back our other computer was having this problem and someone gave me a fix that changed a value in the registry, but I can't find that anywhere where I saved it!!!

Log into the system as admin, then open and check the following items; "control panel" "folder options" "view" look for "remember each folders view settings" and "open each folder in it's own window" if you have more than one user logging into the machine with custom desktop/files, they can change these view options after they log in.. If it doesn't remember how you did it; you may have to set it up via registry entries.
