    Which is exactly what I found, but Rhonda seemed to need to be correct
    so who am I to argue? It looks like loading the Google Chrome browser
    without any other "googleware" loads the updater without any removal
    entries or entries in the program groups (and I didn't see any way to
    run the updater that would allow you to enter any "options" about when
    it runs, although there may be some command line switch for this).
    It's possible that Rhonda has some other app like toolbar or desktop
    search that does allow for removal of the update program and the
    controls for turning off auto update.

    I have the Google Updater in my Add and Remove Programs. I don't know
    why you don't have it in yours...but see below.

    I'm also pretty sure that when downloading [most, if not all] software
    from Google, there's an option to reject the Updater.

    That's a definite possibility. I've had the Google Updater for some
    time. Rather than uninstalling it, I simply do not allow it to run any
    old time it feels like doing so.

    I have both, actually, among others.
