Earlier today my "server" computer's battery backup died. I've replaced the ups; but now the computer hangs immediately after I enter the login password. Eventually, I get the windows wall paper screen, but no icons. I've gone back to a restore point, with no luck. I can boot into safe mode, but need some advice on what might be going wrong or how I should proceed to get back to normal operations.
