    ping Nick Skrepetos

I have been an SAS user for sometime (have a lifetime subscription) and
    think it's a great product.

BUT BUT BUT, having moved to using Vista, the update process has become a
    PITA.

Apart from the regular minor updates, whenever there is a significant update
that I get alerted to, I get a message telling me i need to be an
administrator in order to apply this. When I query this, the only solution
seems to be to uninstall, then reinstall, then re-register.

    This tries patience

Is there going to be a proper solution??

I think you will find this is a Vista paranoia problem and applies to all
Vista activities. I believe you can avoid all those irritating check-up
questions by altering some of the options in Vista. I managed it, by going
back to XP like many others...!

Yes but the key thing is that ALL other software that I have including the
likes of NOD32 and spywareblaster, updates without this problem, so I hope
SAS will be made to do the same. I will carry on using it regardless, but it
would make life simpler. It would be interesting to hear if other Vista
users have the same problem. This is a new computer, that came with Vista so
I can't "go back" to XP even if I wanted to, without buying XP of course -
but having persevered with Vista I've adapted and have no need to change.
