While I do appreciate your wiseass remark regarding my intelligence,
it's not as simple as you seem to think. MalWareBytes is maintained by
several individuals, and has several language translations. Any change
of significance to the engine requires input from ALL programmers, and
some things for portability are just not a priority at the moment. This
issue has been discussed at length for sometime on the forums and in
private conversations between myself and the others involved, it's a
huge undertaking. The application was never intended to be portable.
It's not a simple utility like BugHunter.

Eventually we plan to offer a portable version, but as I said, not at
    this time.

    > so I'm sure it will only take a second since I'm SURE you can clean a

2 minutes? For XP antivirus, that can be done, yes. Lesson time.

    1. Acquire a bartpe disc.
    2. Boot machine from bartpe.
    3. Find the files associated; Most are hard coded filenames. I know most
of the variants by heart now... heh 4. Delete the files.
    5. Mount the infected systems software hive in barts regedit. you know
how right, mr computer fixer? 6. Edit relevant registry entries.

    options for even faster:

Boot bart, reconfigure bughunter for non recursive quick scan, hunt the
windows folder, then edit the registry. That should satisfy your anal 2
    minute scan time.

    > I tell them the money would be better spent buying a new PC, but all I
    > can do is offer advice.....

They would be better off, imho, finding a more honest computer person
with more real world experience than what you display here.

You seemed to take great enjoyment over people infected with XP
antivirus, due to the money it makes you.

The helpers on the various forums seem to know more than you about this,
and they aren't all even techs.

Considering new boxes can be acquired for a few hundred more than your
service call, and based on how you bill, yea your ripping them off.

    > You have no ****ing right to tell me or anyone else what or how they
    > make money or how much they charge is wrong or to much etc,

Your absolutely right! But, I can call your competence into question,
Especially when you brag about your rates and methods of removal. Your
    not worth the cost, imo.

Way to go, I hope some of your customers read this and realize how badly
your raping them over the coals, incompetent ****ing moron.

Bart PE boot disk or the Ultimate boot disk is one of my favorite tools,
Thank god for the folks that have put that thing together, I donate to them
    on a regular basis....
but on a PIII with 128megs of RAM it takes at least 2 min to boot to the CD.
    DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!
And your right I'm an incompetent ass that over charges his dummy clients
    and rips them off
    I'm a total fraud!!!!!!! you're so right ..
Ya know what I'm going to do first thing next week.
I'm going to call and or mail my hundreds and hundreds of customers, (most
repeat customers that ask for five or more business cards when I visit
because they loved the work I did). Oh and the customers I give FREE phone
    support to also.
And tell them what a fraud I am !!!
I'm going to cancel my radio commercials,
I'm going to pull my advertising in the yellow pages,
Then I will sell my 9 computers all my printers,
give up my sales tax number,

Damn, if you have such good customer references ("most repeat customers that
ask for five or more business cards"), you probably wouldn't have to spend
all that money advertising in the yellow pages and radio commercials.
You actually sound like a smooth talker who has some knowledge on how to fix
    computers.

Buffalo...if that is your real name... :-)

    I wish I was a smooth talker,
the reason for the advertising is growing the business, any self employed
    person would tell you that.
I have been advertising since day one, if nobody knows about you and your
business, how would they know to call you??
people look in the yellow pages, listen to the radio and watch TV, maybe you
have even seen or heard a commercial??
when you need to have something fixed and you don't know anybody that fixes
what is broken what do you do??
I am also in a very competitive area, the listing for computer repair in my
area in the yellow pages contains I would say a hundred maybe more computer
    shops.
I do get more referrals than I do from advertising, but that just happened
    two years ago or so,
until then I did not have a customer base large enough to be busy every day.
If your were self employed you would understand.
My father for instance is a contractor (carpentry) and has never advertised,
but his business for the first ten years was very slow,
My mother also self employed (cosmetologist) bought a pre existing shop and
with the shop came the customers, but she also advertised, she was very
successful. which is good because my dad's business was slow back then..
but I don't know why I'm explaining myself to you, it does not matter
I work about 25 hours a week (billable hours, really more like 50 hours) at
60 bucks an hour (give or take), OK 54 bucks an hour for senior and military
    (10 percent discount)..
I am doing very well and I don't care what some newsgroup person thinks...
most of the critics are just drunken Trolls anyway..
    Clark

BTW I voted for G.W. twice
I am a member of the NRA,
and donate to the Republican party
    and I love my country!!!

Probably by word of mouth ie: ("most repeat customers that ask for five or
more business cards whenI visit because they loved the work I did").
    Let's see. 250 satisfied customers x5 = 1250. That should keep a one-man
    operation going.

    > people look in the yellow pages, listen to the radio and watch TV,

You sound like an idiot or scam artist making a statement like that.

I usually ask friends for references, not just go to the first 'Joe' in the
    Yellow Pages.

Then it was necessary. When the business is slow, advertise. No question.

    You are correct on that.

    > hours) at 60 bucks an hour (give or take), OK 54 bucks an hour for

Yep, I do believe that. Most think that all the hours on a job like yours
get paid for every hour they're away, but in reality, it only amounts to
about 1/2 to 2/3 of the time you away, if you're doing well.

    > I am doing very well and I don't care what some newsgroup person

On that comment, I would say: How the hell do you know that??

    >BTW I voted for G.W. twice

    > and donate to the Republican party

If you love your country, why the hell do you put up with Bush and the
arrogant Republican Party that put this country in such miserable shape with
probably 50+thousand military members becoming handicapped for life and
causing the deaths of over 500,000 innocent Iraqis, creating a National Debt
that will take decades to repay, attacking the wrong country (do you
remember recently when Bush critized Russia for attacking a country) for
what ever insane reason he had. Hell, three years ago, the Republican Party
claimed that Bagdad had a more stable and better electrical supply to that
city than they did before the war started. How long can you believe those
    lies???
****, you probably believed that sign on the aircraft carrier that Bush got
flown to right after the war started that said something like' The war is
over'. Biggest bunch of BS ever said. Gotta admire your beliefs.

Things dont work like that. I give out over a thousand business cards a
year, and if it generated a hundred jobs, i would be exceptionally pleased.
I generally do about 750 jobs a year.

Advertising works. It would be best to think of sector that you are less
familiar with, for example, if you needed to get your vehicle serviced, or
need a locksmith, like most people you would be drawn in by an advert.
Yellow Pages, here in the UK is key to such advertising.

Again, it is about a sector you are familiar with. When i first started, the
Yellow Pages and the phone book (BT here) were, without doubt the major
    source of new leads.

I now have a large pool of repeat customers, but it has took five years of
very heavy advertising to get to this stage.

I suspect in a certain set of areas, your perhaps, slightly ignorant,
yes. But, you can still be taunt. As far as ripping people off, hey, I
do the same stuff you do, or probably did at some point... *shrug*, I've
been in this a long time. Seen many computer shops come and go, because
some individuals seemed to believe they had what it takes to diagnose
software and hardware these days and not confuse the two. Don't
misunderstand, Not all computer shops have this problem; I have much
respect for a fellow IT person whom I know in person, in fact, we live
close to one another; but as an individual who's money hungry, I can't
stand him. He does have respectable skills however.

Now, when I first knew him, he was as n00b to it all as you could
possibly be, but as time progressed and he gained more real world actual
hands on experience, he got really good. I'm harsh on people, and very
hard on many. It's the way I am. However, I think more good comes from
it then bad. Due to our friendship, the fellow IT guy, gave him a great
career earning money with the us government. I pushed him. Always one
upped him. Now, at this point in the game, he can exceed me in some
areas, flat outright. If your irked enough by me, you could do the same
and be one kickass ****ing IT person yourself. And no, I'm not being a
wiseass with you. I did that in the last post.

Every so often, you will come across the FAQ for alt.privacy.spyware, I
strongly encourage you to read the section on where to submit hijackthis
logs. Some of those places offer excellent resources, training,
knowledge and a fine set of tools to assist you.

    I don't drink.

*shrug*. If you really think I didn't pull a low shot for a spelling
foobar was bad on my part, that's alright with me.

    DUDE get off my ass!

I have been working with computers since Commodore 64,
I used to be a DBA for a large bank out here on the east coast USA (the
greatest country in the world btw)
I had 3 servers, and back then we had frame relay, I had 7 PC's and I
actually had an office in the server area which was the second most secure
place in the bank, (I needed access to the servers allot so it made sense)
that area was climate controlled, humidity the whole nine yards..
I was offered jobs from other companies and was pretty damn good at what I
did, the software we used was put out by a company named On Base,
(AND I'M GOOD AT WHAT I DO NOW)
    here is a link, https://www.onbase.com/english/index.aspx
I was once told in a conference call (with the CFO senior VP's etc)., that I
was the best DBA they had nation wide, We had other banks sending reps up to
me so I could demo the software for them, as I was doing things with the
database no one else was (at the time)
The database was a million $ to purchase and install.
I got laid off when we were bought up by BankNorth, I could have kept my job
    but was unwilling to move.
They kept me on for almost a year so I could help them migrate the database.
I took a year off and started my business
    Are fricken jealous or what???
    or are you a hater?
Look why don't you just do your bughunter crap (that I don't care for) and
    leave me alone?

thanks a bunch, hugs and kisses!!
