In a move that was widely rumored, AMD today took the wraps off their 65nm processors. The new "Brisbane" processors are just a process shrink of the 90nm "Windsor" core, and they represent a significant performance per watt improvement for the Athlon 64 X2 line of processors. The new processors, detailed below, have roughly half the TDP of their older 90nm counterparts.
These Athlon 64 X2 parts are just the first 65nm parts out of AMD's Fab 36 in Dresden, Germany. As the rest of the fab transitions over to 65nm production, they'll move the rest of their processor lines to the new process.
