software as recommended earlier in the posts but it didn't find
anything.

I have now removed remove-it.

I do have an account with them yes to answer your questions earlier.

There must be some way of getting this thing off?

The Remove-It software is plagiared code of RogueFix and it only targets SmitFraud type
infections and in no way was Remove-It hard coded to resolve your problem.

Please stear clear of the PCBUTTS1.Com web site.

Additionally, you need to now delete the hosts file as it will block access to legitimate
web sites such as; www.mvps.org and anti amlare hosting sites.

Delete the following file...
C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

If you want a hosts file to block malware related sites you can get it from here...

PCBUTTS1 version was plagiarized from the above site but modified to block legitimate
sites and to remove PCBUTTS1.Com which is a bad site.

David is 100% correct, you can check the content of the HOSTS file that
Butts installs without telling to confirm that he's blocking reputable
anti-malware sites without your permission.
