You should post which program is using the most amount of ram when the application error pops up.. I can't offer a suggestion otherwise, it would be bad form to suggest just buy a new one, when the fix is a simple one; finding the application that is giving you trouble. Unless you want a new one, and have the money, that's up to you.. Nothing wrong with doing that.

The graph and percent of CPU isn't usefull info at this time. As I mentioned previously, regarding the amount of memory being used up in the process/application tab. There's a list of files in the task manager, either "applications" or "processes" and to the right hand side it should show some numbers "not percent value" one of them should say percent CPU usage, the other one says a number of Kb or KB of memory being used.

It's important to note the application that is using the most amount of ram, as well as any other's that are using up lots, in the 50,000KB, to 100,000KB range or anything significatly over 12,000KB.. Also, note if the KB or Kb, is it Captital B or lower case b?

They represent two different multipliers in a numeric scheme, Caps B is BYTE, bigger etc.

I need to see those file names and the number of Kb or KB that they are using in order to make any further "VALID" suggestions regarding your issue..

    IEXPLORER 24.776K
    ashServ.exe 11.420K
    ashWeb .exe 10.400K

    IEXPLORER> EXE 32.188K
    ashWebSv exe 11.200K

Thanks, is that a period or a comma? 24.776K is only a fraction of a megayte, if it were 24,776K that's aroud 23 megabytes used, which is taken away from your 128 megabytes of system ram, along with the other apps using 10megs, or 10k?
Even if it's a coma, that is not enough to cause the virtual memory resize, there's gotta be more going on using up system ram...

Keep an eye on these numbers throughout the time that you are using your system and note which ones are increasing over time, as mentioned before, we are looking for any single application with memory usage around 60,000 or in the six figures over 100,000K
AND an application that does not decrease the amount of memory used over time can be a problem, this is what we are looking for.. A steady climb in amount of K used indicates a memory leak. I'd like to know if this is happening, and what application or filename is doing it, in order to Identify a troublesome application, or if you have several applications all using in excess of 348,000K you may just need more system ram, or the fixed pagefile that I suggested previously...

found something weird i ran the regcure program RegCure.exe
    the scan started 13.752
fix mode 17.840 then jumped to 30.000K for a second then down to
    15.280K
    while ck the email
    MSIMIN.EXE17.308 K
    IEXPLORER.exe 16.968K
    ashServ.exe 10.536K

It's normal for a program to change the amount of memory used, don't worry too much about applications that change as you are using them. Gotta worry about the ones that run in the background, while you are using internet exlorer, when you get the LOW virtual memory warning/ It's not normal for one to keep on using up ram, unless it's particularly memory intensive, such as an animation, or graphics intensive, or alot of data being loaded on the page all at once.. Have task manager up in the background while you do your thing, try going to several websites, go to the site you were having issues with, the doityourself one etc.. When the error pops up, check task manager for the file memory usage then list the ones that are using up the most amount of memory.
I'm still wondering if it's a comma or a period in the memory usage report?

oh....... sorry..... brain drain its a comma, had to put on the specks
i went to diy and the background turned black, it could be seen thru, but black. no warning/error displayed but aawservice.exe went crazy
started climbing 20,ooo up to 50,794
and his buddy ASHMAI.sv exe was 32,634
when i looged on the memory usage .wasat 420462K on the green screen, next to the graph . nothing was being used but the main page and task man. the graph line was at the top straight across
oh and the 420462K had no comma or period
can i go back in time with the task man.,and take it to a event timmer,
error setting time. and view past memory and event at same time?
also if i am not doing anything, just sitten, it should not climb, correct?
    fluctuate yes ?

Correct, memory usage should not climb while you aren't doing stuff. It's NOT normal for memory usage to increase when you are not doing stuff. Thanks for posting what is going on while you are at DIY,
    so far...
You didn't get the prompt that said your virtual memory was too low while you were at DIY?
Was the screen turning black before? Does it do this with any other website?

Did you change ANYTHING prior to the black screen?

wait and see what program was causing the virtual memory too low/resize prompt

in order to find what program or programs that use the most amount of ram "all of it" to actually cause the error at the time of the virtual memory too low/resize notification...

The other applications are timing out, waiting for the resize of memory, and not having the info where they left it and so are geting stop errors. "most likely"

It does sound like your aaw and other applications are using alot of memory. But that could be from repededly "STOPPING" bad software from getting onto your system from that website.

If you changed your page file size already, or if windows remembered it's pagefile resize settings, and is using more than the default 1.5 times your system ram, it's going to take LONGER still to fill up ram "IF" you have a memory leak..

Using task manager to identify and post the applications that are using the most amounts of ram "when the error or virtual memory resize occurs" will help identify the problem, other than what I have already covered regarding the amount of system ram and fixing the page file, we are spinning wheels since this information hasn't been posted yet..

EXCEPT which applications are running and how much memory they are using "VIA task manager" WHEN you get the error for low virtual memory.... Doing nothing out of your ordinary rutine, including the website that you are having errors with..

[edit] If you can do the rutine over and over again, IE, browsing sites, opening applications etc.. WITHOUT getting the error, then you just need more system ram, or a larger virtual memory setting.

Also if you are at all interested in upgrading the system ram, let us know the MAKE and MODEL of your computer, we can look it up and find how much memory it can take and also link you to a reputable dealer.

    it is doing something else
yesterday i put the task mgr and the event timmer on the bottom bar
mini sized, ready for action. the diy site
showed an error at the lower left ,hand corner. it usually says ''done'' when i go to a program, it said ''done with errors'' then switched to ''errors on page'' and ''done, but with errors''
i looked at the event timmer no info didn't happen now its messen with my head
then i continued.... when i answered a diy question,a window opens, you type in what you want
the window said CANNOT FIND SERVER MICROSOFT EXPLORER
    THE PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED.
no event info, no huge spikes in memory
i think your correct, this is probly caused to low ram.... makes sence
if i dump, programs like, microsoft resume helper, excel, digital camera program. will that help? i got a lot of junk i dont use
and i have not changed the settings on the page memory, yet. waiting for you to tell me its time, didn't want to ''muddy'' the water so to speak
make and model on the bottom ? right?
    model latitude CPiA366XT
the make, os name microsoft windows 2000 professional
    version 5.0.2195 service pack 4 build 2195
    os manu. micros. corp.
    system name WINXP-5E51C1F9F
    TYPE X86-BASED PC
    PROCESSOR X86 FAMILY 6 MODEL 6 STEPPING 10 GENUINE ~36.....
BIOS VERSION PHOENIX ROM BIOS PLUS VERSION 1.10A13
IS THAT ENOUGH INFO, NOTHING LIKE OVERKILL
getting more ram is just changing out a part, isn't it?

yes it has done this on other sites, not the black screen, but the cannot be found,
has, on ya'll's site, yesterday. why is it yousing any memory, when sitting idle?
the numbers of usage, don't drop to zero, they kinda stay the same, except, for the ones i have posted. in other words if a process is 2,000K WHEN IAM WORKING , when i stop, idle why is iy still 2,000. i have a lot of that, is it [the pc] just keeping every thing ready or [warm]
