Well, you did say that you are a redneck! I'm into shooting but I haven't for a while. Working on learning reloading, 38,357 and getting a winchester in .357 mag

So it looks like aawservice is using too much, ontop of the ashweb "avast" antivirus resource consumption, internet explorer, and windows, that's definately gonna fill up..

Are you scanning for malware with ad-aware when this happens, or is it just loaded in the background all the time?

Are you using ad-awareSE or 2007?

If you are using ad-aware 2007 or later, dump the 2007/later versions and get ad-aware SE from a well known source, then update it by downloading only the latest definitions from the authors website. Best to read through their instructions for updating. I don't think the latest versions were designed to work with older opperating systems.

If you want to keep using ad-aware to scan for stuff, but don't want it to use up memory when you are not scanning for stuff.

Turn off the aawservice from administrative controls through windows 2000 control panel.,

Open admin controls, open "services" and find the AAW thing, double click on it, select stop, then set the "STARTUP" to MANUAL, click OK then restart.

This application should now only startup the aaw service when you start ad-aware from the start menu or desktop shortcut.

Continue monitoring for any memory resize errors, if it happens again, it's still a process of elimination. You can safely change your page file to 768MB or 1024MB fixed ~"minimum size is set the same as maximum size"

bingo, is that just one application, or all of them?
