Spybot inserts hundreds of entries into my hosts file

My hosts file contains hundreds upon hundreds of dodgy looking web
addresses, all supposedly inserted by Spybot S&D, and all mapped to
    127.0.0.1

Is this normal? Is this so that any attempts to connect to these sites are
    looped back instead?

....or is there something more sinister at play here?...

Thanks. I won't worry about it then. Very quick answer, btw

The SpyBot HOSTS File contains dozens if not thousands of redundant entries that
    *will* choke your Browser.
Disable the SpyBot HOSTS File and use this one >

I'm confused. My Spybot Hosts file does not contain any
redundancies and is significantly smaller (248KB vs 692KB) than
the MVPS file. So, why would the Spybot Hosts file choke my
browser while the MVPS file doesn't?

I have no significant recommendations to offer at this time, sorry.
Post your query to the SpyBot Forum.

I see no reason to post anything to the Spybot forum. I am merely
asking you... on what basis did you make your statement that the
Spybot Hosts file "contains dozens if not thousands of redundant
entries that *will* choke your Browser."

    I have not experienced this.

With my years of experience with SBS&D using the Immunize function, I've
never seen it have any impact on Web Browsing - no negative impact.
