    I want you to go to Add/Remove and UNINSTALL

    Enhancement Browser Tools Gooochi

    I would also like you to remove combofix this way;
    Go to Start > Run, and copy and paste next command in the field:
    • ComboFix /u

    • Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /u
      Then press Enter.

    This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, restore your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again.

    Reboot the system.
    Then go HERE
    First of all follow the instructions for Enabling the Viewing of Hidden Files and Folders.
    Then follow the instructions for download and install of Deckard's Scanner.
    Next run Deckard's Scanner following the instructions on the above link.
    Post back here with BOTH logs generated by Deckard's Scanner.

    These are the only two that i could find. I thought there was another one also, but under the C:/deckard there was only the main.txt not the extra.txt.

    Looks pretty good. Couple more steps;
    First you need to run HJT again and place a checkmark next to the following entry;
    O2 - BHO: gooochi browser optimizer - {d1fa2a29-3f8b-b045-2e9b-1998e216e484} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\qsuheivghvlz.dll (file missing)
    Once you have placed the checkmark then click the Fix Checked button.
    Exit HJT.

    Now we need to do a fix with Combofix. Please download it from HERE
    save it to the desktop.

    Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:

    KILLALL::

    Folder::
    C:\WINDOWS\S2F0aGFyaW5l
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\g82.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfig
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\provdll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\OBDE
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\imp32
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\olixds01

    Registry::
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{d1fa2a29-3f8b-b045-2e9b-1998e216e484}]
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\qsuheivghvlz.dll
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Once you have completed the above, reboot the system. Run a new HJT scan. Post back here with that new combofix.txt file and the new HJT log.

    Hey Hank, that's why we are here, to help folks clean up their computers and then hopefully help them keep them clean.
    The logs look good. There are quite a few unnecessary programs running however and to speed the computer I would recommend stopping some of these from auto starting. All I am recommending can easily be run manually;
    ehTray....Enables the user to access Windows Messenger from within Windows Media Center Edition
    SigmatelSysTrayApp...Related to Sigmatel_Audio_sound_card This program is not required to start automatically as you can run it when you need to.
    SunJavaUpdateSched...SunJava update checker. Can be run manually.
    HP Software Update...can easily be run manually
    Dell QuickSet...Dell taskbar icon allowing you to quickly change settings
    DMXLauncher...Your choice, not required. Part of Dell's Media Experience, a multimedia suite which offers the user functionality to organise and play music and digital video files.
    QuickTime Task...System Tray access to Apple's "Quick Time" viewer from version 5 onwards not required to run at start up.
    MSMSGS...Windows Messenger Utility...NOT MSN Messenger. If you don't use Windows Messenger, this can be annoying. Available via Start -> Programs. Go to Windows Messenger > Tools > Options > Preferences and uncheck "Run this program when Windows starts"

    Frankly, also I would recommend UNINSTALLING AdAware. The newer version is just not as reliable as previous versions, plus it now has a service which runs all the time in the background.
    Keep Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware program for weekly scans. It is proving to be an excellent tool.
    I would also recommend installing SpywareBlaster
    Excellent protection program and it DOES NOT run in the background.

    You can disable those unnecessary start ups and services using another great FREE program CodeStuffStarter

    Go ahead and remove Deckards, if you haven't all ready done so and also combofix.
    Let me know how things are running.
    Judy

    Yep, everything seems to be running smooth. Do you have any recommendations for an anti-virus and a fire wall(I'm not against paying a little for a good thing either)? I read another article that was posted by phillephan, but what are your recommendations or what do you use?

    Personally I use Avira Free, like it really well. For the firewall I use the built in Windows Firewall and have had very good results with it. I have followed the advice I received years ago from another fellow at another forum where I post concerning the Windows Firewall, makes sense to me and it does work for me;
    Windows Firewall blocks only incoming stuff whereas third-party firewalls block both incoming and outgoing stuff. This means that were you to inadvertently allow a trojan to be installed, WF would not prevent it from calling home with whatever information it had managed to harvest from your computer (passwords, monitored keystrokes, etc, etc). So, in theory, a third-party utility will offer a greater level of security than WF. However ...

    ... simply adopting safe surfing practices (not downloading applications from warez sites or via file-sharing utilities, not installing no-cost applications from little-known developers, etc, etc, etc) and running a good antivirus utility should be sufficient to prevent any trojans or other unwanted items from finding their way onto your computer and so a bi-directional firewall is, IMO, of less importance than many people seem to think.

    Furthermore, look back over old threads and you'll find few (if any) instances of a person being "stung" as a result of using WF - but you'll find significantly more threads relating to problems caused by the use of a third-party firewall (botched updates, etc).

    There is, however, no "one size fits all" answer here. Should you use your computer for online banking/shopping and should it be shared with file-sharing children, then it might not be a bad idea to install a third-party firewall, if you trust the other users to surf sensibly, then WF is probably perfectly sufficient for your needs.
